STRATEGIC PLANNING TO REVITALIZE A HISTORIC DOWNTOWN

After nearly two decades of attempted revitalization
efforts in San Salvador’s historic core, the municipal government recently prioritized cohesive development of a Revitalization Strategic Plan that would chart a path forward for the city over the next decade.

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and global economic development firm, WSP, engaged our team to lead a strategic planning effort to help facilitate the city’s growth.

Working with a team of local experts, we developed a set of recommendations related to infrastructure planning, urban design, investment attraction, communications, and public-private partnerships that will help create the conditions to help transform downtown San Salvador into a thriving mixed-use district.
