MARKETING + COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT INTERN

 

We are looking for a marketing and community engagement intern to help support Totem’s overall communications strategy through the development of a social media and thought leadership platform that helps engage influencers and elevates the Totem brand.

The right candidate should be well versed in digital platforms and offline engagement strategies, with a penchant for research and a willingness to learn, and someone who can work independently as well as enjoy a meaningful interactive role in all aspects of our work. Ours is a small, collaborative firm, and this position will work directly with the entire Totem team.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Research and develop social media engagement strategy, focusing on influencers and policy areas related to our projects;

  • Research relevant outreach opportunities for raising Totem’s profile related to our practice areas;

  • Develop content as needed for marketing materials, including but not limited to newsletters and social media posts;

  • Research local community-based organizations and their synergy with Totem initiatives;

  • Attend online and in-person community meetings.

Qualifications

  • Exceptional research, writing, and editing skills and meticulous attention to detail;

  • Entrepreneurial and creative, with a strong team spirit;

  • Previous internship experience in marketing, strategic communications, journalism, design, or related field highly preferred;

  • Proficiency with InDesign, Photoshop, or similar editing software and social media analytics platforms preferred.

This role is open to flexible, part-time scheduling for candidate looking for college credit or can be a paid hourly position.

ARCHITECTURAL INTERN

Totem is a real estate development firm that specializes in community-driven projects and innovative design. What We’re Looking For

We are seeking a detail-oriented architectural intern to assist our development team with analysis of a variety of projects throughout New York City’s five boroughs. This role will provide significant exposure to NYC’s zoning code, land use parameters, the ULURP process, and project underwriting.

The right candidate should be well versed in design programs, with a willingness to learn, and someone who can work independently as well as enjoy a meaningful interactive role in all aspects of our work. Ours is a small, collaborative firm, and this position will work directly with the entire Totem team.

Specific Responsibilities

‣      Analyze current zoning and as of right development scenarios;

‣      Analyze contextual re-zoning opportunities and potential development scenarios;

‣      Produce zoning calculations, massings, site plans, and program mixes for as of right and rezoned residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments;

‣      Stay up to date with neighborhood rezonings, spot rezonings, land use frameworks, and ULURP pipeline.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates should have the following experience and skills:

‣      Basic hand drawing and modeling skills;

‣      Proficiency in design and computer programs (Revit, AutoCAD, Sketch Up, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.);

‣      Basic knowledge of architectural building systems;

‣      Experience with NYC zoning code preferred;

‣      Excellent verbal and written communication skills;

‣      Ability to effectively meet deadlines;

‣      Master’s degree in Architecture or currently enrolled in Master’s program.
